If I were a dog, I’d be a Scottish-Ukrainian-American mixed breed that would be best described as friendly, loyal, energetic, needs room to run, is easily trained and doesn't shed or drool... much.
I was born in Pasadena, California and by the time I was 18, lived in ten different cities in Southern California including Altadena, Pasadena, South Pasadena, Arcadia, San Clemente, Dana Point, Santa Ana, Orange, Mission Viejo and Sierra Madre. My favorite city was San Clemente where I was a bit of a beach bum, learned to surf and developed a love for nature.
I graduated from Pasadena High School in 1970 and then went on to earn an AS degree in Science from Pasadena City College. After that I attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as a Biology major for a year and then went on to earn a BS degree in Botany from Cal Poly Pomona, and a MS degree in Natural Resources from Cal Poly Humboldt (formerly Humboldt State University).

After earning a Master’s degree, I got a job with the US Forest Service and worked as a Plant Ecologist on the Six Rivers National Forest for about 12 years. Working as a Plant Ecologist provided lots of opportunities to explore some amazing country in northwest California. A large part of my job as a Plant Ecologist was to survey and compile data for the development of a Vegetation Community classification system for forests managed by the US Forest Service. I also developed a penchant for databases and computers which later evolved into a new position as a Database Programmer and computer Systems Administrator. I left the Six Rivers National Forest in 1999 and moved north to work as a Computer Systems Administrator on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Vancouver, WA for 3 years. I then transferred to the Portland Forestry Sciences Lab where I worked for another 3 years as a Systems Administrator. In 2006 I transferred to the US Forest Service Region 6 Regional Office in Portland, Oregon where I worked as a Systems Administrator until I retired on August 1, 2019.
I am now living in Vancouver, Washington where I enjoy spending time doing photography, 3D photography photo restoration, ancestry, hiking, biking, dog stuff and traveling whenever and wherever possible
