Denmark Trip - Day 12 - Tversted, DK to Skagen, DK

Little Yellow House B&B, Tversted, Denmark – Woke at around 7 AM.
Downstairs sunroom where Carol and I slept
Slept OK in the downstairs sunroom with the occasional sound of rain on the corrugated roof. The weather looked cloudy, but it was predicted to be sunny later. Everyone was up by around 8 AM. The B&B had a huge coffee grinder in a side room that I used to grind coffee and then used a French Press to make coffee.
Breakfast - Marie's homemade rolls, cheese, and Lotte’s delicious homemade marmalade and plum jam with coffee
Marie toasted some rolls she made and we all had cheese, and some of Lotte’s delicious homemade marmalade and plum jam with coffee. Around 9:30 AM, we walked down the street to a small market to get some toothpaste, toothbrush, and Carlsberg beer.
Several houses had various kinds of food, and crafts for sale along the street using the honor system for payment (potatoes, driftwood art, painted rocks). II'm not sure I'll ever get used to the honor system, LOL.

After getting back to the house, Lotte, Marie, Carol, and I drove to Skagen. We took a slight detour along the way to look at an old sand-covered church.
The Sand-Covered Church
The church was open to the public and for 25 DKK and we were able to climb to the top for a nice view of the Baltic Sea where there were some anchored ships.
Lotte showed us an app on her phone called Ship Tracking that she uses to identify ships when she volunteers at the lighthouse.

The app is amazing and allowed us to identify many of the ships that were anchored offshore.

We took a few group selfies outside the church and then drove on to Skagen where we planned to pick up Erik at the train station.

It turned out there was a Music Festival going on in Skagen. So, the town was crawling with people. We walked to the harbor where most of the music festival was being held and found a restaurant named Havnens Fiskehus where we had lunch of fiskefrickadeller, bread and drinks sitting outside.

After lunch, we walked around Skagen and made our way to the train station to wait for Erik. While waiting, we got coffee at the nearby Stone Coffee Shop and were entertained by a small group of street musicians.

One of the street musicians played a musical saw which was very entertaining.

After Erik arrived, we drove north to the end of the road and parked. We then walked to Grenen which is the northern most tip of Denmark where the Strait of Skagerrak (part of the North Sea) and the Kattagat Sea (part of the Baltic Sea) come together.
Walking to the northern tip of Denmark
It was an amazing experience standing at the tip of Denmark surrounded by water and people from all over the world taking selfies and group photos, which, of course, we did too.

According to Wikipedia, Grenen (The Branch) was named for its shape like a tree-branch reaching out from the mainland.
Grenen is also one of the best places in Denmark to observe sea mammals and has the greatest number of observed bird species in Denmark.

On the way back to the cars we stopped at a little food stand and got ice cream cones (no guf) and watched a large group of motorcycle riders celebrating their ride to the tip of Denmark.

We drove back to the little yellow house and chilled for a while. Later, we walked down the street to the Café Fiske restaurant where we all had the “Shooting Star” (shrimp, halibut, caviar, asparagus, tomato, lettuce), beer (me), vino (Lotte, Marie, Carol), soda (Erik).

After dinner, we went back to the house and around 10 PM, we all walked back to the beach to watch the sunset.
